Happy New Year!  We hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday season and is ready for the new year.  Did you make any resolutions?  We have a good one; Walk your dog!  This is one of the best things you can do for your dog and yourself. The act of walking is  a bonding experience and will help bring you and your dog closer.  It’s also a good way to socialize your dog and work with distractions.  Walking is also great exercise and will help expend your dog’s extra energy.  And, it’s good for us too!

As the days and nights get colder some people like to let their dog’s hair grow longer for warmth.  Other people like to put a sweater or jacket on the dog to keep him/her warm.  Both are great options, as long as you remember to brush the dog’s hair.  If the dog has long hair it can get tangled from wearing clothes or even from every day activities like walking and rolling on the ground.  These tangles will become mats.  If you brush your dog (make sure you get all the way to the skin), this will save you money and your dog some discomfort.  Not sure how to brush correctly?  Come in and we’ll give you a lesson.  In fact, watch  for our free brushing seminar coming in February.  Have a short hair dog like a Labrador?  You’re off the brushing hook!

Roxie Boss is a mixed breed who comes to see us for daycare and an occasional bath.  She enjoys playing with Lulu, Snoopy, and Fluffy.  She’s a sweet girl and gets along with everyone.
