April 2015 Happy Birthday!
On April 1, 2012, Sandy Pawz Dog House opened its doors for the first time.  We had 2 owners, a manger, and 2 groomers.  Today, 3 years later we have groomers, bathers, daycare attendants, boarding attendants, and managers.  We cannot believe how much we’ve grown in such a short period of time, and we know that it would never have happened without the amazing customers that choose to come to us and we thank you for your continued support.  In honor of you, in the month of April we will take $10 off all trainings (group or individual) and if you wish us Happy Anniversary we will take an extra 5% off any retail item.  Again, thank you for your support.  We couldn’t have done it without you.
Tip of the Month
As the days get warmer, many people like to let their dogs swim, either in a pool or at dog beach.  This is great exercise for them and will tire them out very well.  However, if you have a long haired dog, you want to be sure to dry and brush the dog.  If you don’t, matting will occur.  Once there are mats, every time the dog gets wet, the mats will get tighter, making it difficult, if not impossible to demat the dog.  This means the dog’s coat must be cut pretty short to get rid of the mats.  Soremeber, if you want the dog’s hair to be longer, brush and dry after swimming.
Pet of the Month
Actually this time it’s Pets of the Month.  This is Tessa, Higgins, and Dolly Bodine.  They are Bichons who come to us for grooming.  They are very sweet and the groomers love them.  When they’re at home they help their human mom foster rescue Bicohons that are waiting for homes.
Training Tip…”What Would Sandy Say?”
When dogs are playing, it’s a good idea to interrupt them often.  It helps keep the dogs’ adrenaline levels down so they don’t get over-excited which can lead to fighting.  Also, it’s good practice to call your dog away to check in with you.  It teaches your dog to come when you call, even around distractions.
